CBE & What it Means to Me

I have had the opportunity to speak to many NYS elected officials in NYS about Common Core and education issues.

One conversation stands out as we stare down the barrel of CBE.

During the summer of 2014, one elected official told me about a family member, same generation,  who was a special needs child.  This elected official had negative memories of what needed to be done for that child at that time.

So, today, I would really like to ask this elected official, is staring at a computer day after day trying to master one standardized skill after another, the life envisioned for this family member?  Is this the improvement in special education that you seek?

Are you willing for forsake social-emotional development, physical development and access to other areas, art, music, theater, sports for the sole goal of meeting a very narrow set of standards?
